Liora Hendelman-Baavur

Dr. Liora Hendelman-Baavur is a senior research fellow at the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies at Tel Aviv University, where she served as director from 2019 to 2023. Her award-winning book, Creating the Modern Iranian Woman: Popular Culture Between Two Revolutions (Cambridge University Press), received the 2022 Latifeh Yarshater Book Award from the Association for Iranian Studies. Bridging historical analysis and contemporary commentary, Dr. Hendelman-Baavur’s work spans from cultural examinations like “A Man for All Seasons: Mosaddeq’s Image and Legacy in Contemporary Iran” (IJMES, 2024) to current strategic assessments of Iran–Syria and Iran–Israel relations. Her multidisciplinary approach provides unique insights into how historical patterns inform present regional power dynamics, offering critical perspectives on the evolving security architecture of the Middle East.
