Professor Nimrod Luz is currently the Head of Research Authority at Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee. He teaches an array of topics ranging from history to contemporary Middle East, Israeli society to the realms of politics, anthropology, and food studies at both the Land of Israel Studies and Psychology departments. Professor Luz is a distinguished cultural-political geographer whose research delves into the intricacies of theories concerning culture, landscape, built environment, and, more recently, food. His interdisciplinary approach seamlessly weaves together a historical-textual perspective and profound expertise in matters pertaining to Israel, the Middle East, and Islam, deftly intertwining them with various human geography theories encompassing cultural, political, and religious dimensions. Professor Luz's scholarly contributions span a vast array of topics, encompassing intricate discourses on cities and urban theory, the multifaceted realms of religion and sacred spaces, and the nuanced tapestry of sacred landscapes within the Middle Eastern context. Since 2007, he has been engaged in food studies, primarily from a political and geographical standpoint. As such, he explores the current politics of food in Israel and, more pertinent to this project, the path toward more regenerative and sustainable agriculture and growing resilience of the food chain. He serves as a member of the Israeli Climate Forum (food section), the Israeli Forum for Sustainable Nutrition (IFSN), and a board member of the Israeli Slow Food Chapter. He is frequently invited to research institutions around the world. He served as a visiting fellow in numerous institutions among them: Boazici University Turkey, University of WI-Madison, Indiana University South Bend, Max Plank Institute for the History of Science Berlin Germany, Excellent Cluster Topoi Berlin Germany, University College Dublin Ireland, Masaryk University Berno the Czech Republic, Max Weber Kolleg Erfurt University Germany.
